Roof Leak Repair in Pittsburgh

Water almost never enters the roof directly above the stain on your ceiling. It gets in at a failed flashing detail or a cracked vent boot, runs along the decking or a rafter, and drops somewhere entirely different. That is why so many roof leak repairs fail: the patch went where the water showed up, not where the water came in.

Pittsburgh makes it harder. Our freeze and thaw cycles pry open every seam a little wider each winter, ice dams push meltwater backward under the shingles, and a lot of the housing stock in the city is old enough that the original flashing was never designed for the drainage load it carries today. We trace leaks properly before we touch a shingle.

Ice Dam Damage

Snow melts, refreezes at the cold eave, and backs water up under the shingles. We repair the damage and fix the ventilation problem that caused it.

Freeze and Thaw Cracking

Pittsburgh winters open up sealant joints, valley metal, and pipe collars a little more every season until water finds the gap.

Older Chimney Flashing

On older Pittsburgh homes, chimney and masonry flashing is the single most common leak source we find. We replace it properly, not with caulk.

Storm and Wind Damage

High wind lifts and creases shingles without tearing them off. The damage is easy to miss from the ground and easy for an adjuster to dispute.

Our Pittsburgh Roof Repair Services

From a single cracked vent boot to widespread hail damage across an entire roof, these are the repairs we handle most often for Pittsburgh homes and businesses.

Roof Leak Repair

Active leaks traced back to the real entry point and sealed correctly, with the interior damage documented in case a claim is involved.

Missing and Damaged Shingles

Shingles lost to wind, hail, or age, replaced with a matched color and profile so the repair blends into the rest of the roof.

Flashing and Valley Repair

Failed flashing at valleys, sidewalls, and step details is the leading cause of leaks we find. We replace the metal rather than sealing over it.

Vent Boots and Pipe Collars

The rubber collar around a plumbing vent dries out and splits long before the shingles wear out. It is the classic mystery leak, and it is a fast fix.

Chimney and Skylight Leaks

Both come down to flashing, counterflashing, and sealant. We rebuild the whole detail so it drains the way it was supposed to.

Storm and Hail Damage

Targeted repairs after wind, hail, or fallen limbs, with full photo documentation and direct support through the insurance claim.

Soffit, Fascia, and Drip Edge

Rot at the roof edge usually means water has been getting behind the gutter for a while. We repair the edge detail and the cause behind it.

Emergency and Same Day Repair

Active water coming into the house does not wait for an appointment. We tarp, stabilize, and stop the intrusion, then schedule the permanent repair.

Roof Repair by Material

Pittsburgh has a wider mix of roofing materials than most cities its size, from century-old slate in the East End to standing seam metal on newer builds. Repairing each one correctly takes different materials and different hands. A roofer who only knows asphalt will do more harm than good on a slate roof.

Asphalt Shingle Repair

The most common repair we do in Pittsburgh. We match shingle color, profile, and underlayment to what is already up there so the patch performs like the rest of the roof and does not stand out from the street.

Slate Roof Repair

Pittsburgh has a lot of original slate, and most of it can be saved. Slate roof repair means replacing broken tiles with copper hooks or hangers and never walking the field the way you would an asphalt roof. Done right, a slate roof outlives its owner.

Metal Roof Repair

Metal roofs rarely fail across the panel. They fail at the fasteners, the seams, and the penetrations, where thermal movement works the detail loose season after season. We repair the detail rather than smearing sealant across it.

Tile and Synthetic Slate Repair

Tile and composite systems like Davinci need to be lifted and reset rather than nailed through. We source matching pieces and repair the underlayment beneath, which is usually where the actual failure is.

Flat and Low Slope Repair

Ponding water, split seams, and punctured membrane on TPO, EPDM, and modified bitumen. Common on Pittsburgh rowhouses, additions, and commercial buildings across the metro.

Historic and Century Homes

Older Pittsburgh roofs come with hand-formed valley metal, unusual pitches, and details no modern product is made for. We work with what is there instead of forcing a modern system onto it.

Repair or Replace? How We Decide

Plenty of Pittsburgh roofing companies will happily sell you a new roof when a repair would have carried you another eight years. Others will keep patching a roof that failed two winters ago because a repair is an easier sale. Neither one is doing right by you.

Our rule is simple. If the damage is isolated, the rest of the roof still has usable life, and the repair will genuinely hold, we repair it. If the shingles are shedding granules across the whole field, the decking is soft, or you have been chasing a new leak every spring, we will tell you that a Pittsburgh roof replacement is the better use of your money. You can also see the full range of our Pittsburgh roofing services if you are not sure yet which one you need.

Repair Makes Sense When

The damage is localized, the roof is under about 15 years old, and the rest of the field is sound and shedding water properly.

Replacement Makes Sense When

Granules are filling the gutters, leaks keep appearing in new places, or the decking underneath has already taken on water.

No Pressure Either Way

You get the photos, the diagnosis, and the itemized numbers for both paths. The decision stays yours.

Insurance Changes the Math

If a storm caused the damage, a claim may cover far more than you expect. We document it properly and deal with the adjuster.

Our Roof Repair Process

A repair should not be a guessing game. Here is exactly what happens from the first call to the last nail picked out of the yard.

01

Free Inspection and Diagnosis

We inspect the roof and the attic, capture drone photos, and find where the water is actually getting in rather than where it is showing up.

02

Itemized Quote

You see the photos, the cause, and the fix, with every line of the estimate broken out. If insurance is involved, we handle that paperwork too.

03

Repair and Cleanup

Our crew protects the property, completes the repair with matched materials, and cleans up so completely you would not know we had been there.

Roof Repair Questions We Hear Every Week

Straight answers to what Pittsburgh homeowners ask us most before booking a repair.

How much does roof repair cost in Pittsburgh?+

It depends entirely on the cause. Replacing a cracked vent boot is a small, straightforward job. Rebuilding chimney flashing, repairing a valley, or replacing slate takes more time, more skill, and more material. What we will not do is quote you a number over the phone before anyone has looked at the roof. The inspection is free, the estimate is itemized, and you will see exactly what you are paying for.

Will my insurance cover the roof repair?+

If the damage came from a storm, hail, or wind, there is a good chance it is covered. Normal wear and age are not. The difference often comes down to how well the damage is documented, which is why we photograph everything, write it up in terms an adjuster recognizes, and work directly with your insurance company through the claim.

Can you repair a slate roof, or does it have to be replaced?+

Most Pittsburgh slate roofs can absolutely be repaired, and in many cases the slate itself is in better shape than the flashing and the nails holding it. Individual broken slates get replaced and secured with copper hangers. Where the underlayment or valley metal has failed, that gets rebuilt. Replacement only enters the conversation when a large share of the slate is delaminating.

How fast can you get out to an active leak?+

If water is coming into the house right now, call us. Our crews are based in the Pittsburgh area, and we prioritize active intrusion so the roof can be tarped and stabilized before the damage spreads into drywall, insulation, and framing. The permanent repair is scheduled once the water is stopped.

Will the repair match the rest of my roof?+

We match shingle color, profile, and manufacturer wherever the product is still available. On an older roof that has weathered, a perfect match is not always possible, and we will tell you that up front rather than surprising you afterward. On slate, tile, and metal we source matching material rather than substituting something close enough.

We had Buccos do our roof, gutters, and downspouts. The quote was extremely well put together and explained everything down to how many elbows were going to be used. The clean up after the roof was done was amazing. I walked our entire yard and found one nail.
